But central to this famous story is the bewitching African
jungle.Â
Mt Manengouba
This mountain measures approx 2,400m above sea level and can be access from the town of Melong through the village of Mbouroukou. There are 2 hiking options available here, we can hike to the twin lakes of Manengouba (approx 2,200m) and also a hike to the Summit at approx 2,400m.
The pair of Crater lakes on Mt Manengouba (2,400m) is surrounded by rolling hills, lush vegetation and smoky skies. The Twin lakes hold a strong cultural significance for the indigenous Bakossi people. This area harbours the greatest sacred place in the Bakossi area, sacrifices are performing here and also there are a lot of good herbs here.
There is a Female and a male lake, the female is in the shape of the African map and its water appears blue. The male lake which is beside the female lake, its water is green in color.
